Vivien was exquisitely beautiful, but she had many issues throughout her life that made her life unbelieveably tragic. She was a manic-depressive and suffered with enormous bouts of mania through the years following her most famous role as Scarlett O’Hara. When she was happy, she was almost uncontrollably happy. And when she was depressed she was often suicidal. Vivien also played the famed role of Blanche Dubois, but unfortunately ended up losing her sanity almost completely after winning her second Oscar. She recieved shock treatments for her mania. Another by-product of her mania was an unbelieveable desire for sex. She became so enthralled with it that she would proposition strangers for sex. This ended her marriage to Laurence Olivier and completely destroyed her mental state. She died of Tuberculosis on July 8, 1967.
You see, she was beautiful, but also a Hollywood tragedy. On the other hand, she was also an enchantingly bright and sweet woman to those who knew her best. I would love to look like her, and maybe be her up until 1944 when her mental issues took on a life of their own. But as far as living her life, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
